Hope everyone had a restful spring break! Today we wrote about all of the wonderful  things we did over the spring break :)

Inuit - Hunting Caribou
Today we talked about the Inuit people. We learned where they live and that they migrate with the animals they hunt (like the caribou).

We also looked at some of their homes (tents and igloos) and learned about their clothing (made from caribou hides and sealskin).

Lastly, we talked about hunting and gathering! Vegetables could not grow in the frozen Arctic soil. The Inuit ate nuts and berries to get the nutrients vegetables offered. Caribou was the Inuit's main food. The Inuits ate all parts of the animal! But how did they hunt these animals? Here was the students learning task:

We also read about how they made clothes and shoes. Ask me what are
                                                                   moccasins?

Ask me what Inuit people used to hunt

                                                       Ask me what they ate..........

We also discussed how the native people used plants to make medicines

We did our own experiment of looking at different flowers and their parts

Ask me what is this

                                             Our observations........

Ask me what I saw and felt

We took a flower apart and put it together.........

In the gym we started racquetball activities. Ask me what we did?

Today we had an opportunity to observe a wasp nest as we are learning about insects. We have been drawing our insects to put for our display.

Ask me about the wasp nest, How to they make their hive. What do they chew? what do they mix the wood with? Saliva and wood mixed is like pulp.
What does the wasp hive feel like?

We also reviewed the needs of plants. Had left some potatoes in the room and they grew roots.
