Today we had the amazing opportunity to work with Diane Peacock and Diane Lee. They brought in some Inuit artifacts which included some hunting tools, toys, and clothing pieces that are traditionally used and worn by the Inuit people of Canada. Below are some of the artifacts we had the opportunity to see. Please ask your child: What are each of the artifacts and what their importance is to Inuit life in Canada.

Back in the classroom, we discussed the Inukshuk. We read The Lonely Inukshuk, a story about a Inukshuk trying to understand its purpose. The Inuksuk may be used for navigation, as a point of reference, a marker for travel routes, fishing places, camps, and hunting grounds. Please ask your child the following questions:

We also read a book about optimism

Ask me how Pete was being optimistic and positive about everyone
She made everyone happy

We also read a few book about earthworms

Ask me about some facts about worms

How do they lay eggs? What colour are their eggs?
Are they nocturnal and why?
If you cut a worm, what happens to it?
What do they eat?
They help in decomposing and how?
Why don't worms like the sun and why?
