Vista Heights was one of the the lucky schools to get selected for the Olympians visit.

Today, Ivanie Blondin and Philippe Marquis visited our school. We were fortunate to hear
 their life experiences from them.

                                                      Olympians Sharing their stories

Phillipe Marquis showing us his skiing bib, which all the Vista Heights were able  to touch

All Vista Heights also were given the opportunity to feel
Ivanie Blonden's speed skating skin suit and admire it closely.

Skin suits are important for in-line and ice speed skating events, because they help optimize each skater's racing performance. A skater can move faster in a skin suit because it is aerodynamic and reduces the air resistance around the skater, and also provides more freedom of movement.

Ivanie's message to Vista Heights, " Never give up, even when its tough, try again. Always follow your dreams. "

Phillipe's message to Vista Heights, "If you want to be the best in the world, you need to commit. It is not always pretty. You have your ups and downs to get to your dreams.
Never give up your dreams! Stay passionate and having a dream makes a difference of what you chose to do in life."

The Olympians messages connected to one of our virtues, " Perseverance"
Perseverance is commitment, hard work, belief patience and endurance. It is being able to bear difficulties calmly and without complaints. It is also the act of trying and not giving up.

Olympians gave Vista Heights a poster with all the names of all the Olympians who
participated in the Sochi Olympics 2014

Today, two more butterflies emerged from the chryslasis. Sammy brought food for our butterflies!

Girls are trying to make the orange slices mushy.....
Why?

                                                          Oranges and Canteloupe

Look at the pattern on the wings

Ask me about this chrysalis

Look at this butterfly closely and observe........
Try to look at all the body parts and other characteristics e.g. antenna's, golden spots...
Point to the compound eyes

We read the book, "Angry Dragon"

Ask me about how the boy felt?
Sometimes, how do I feel when I am angry and why?
Ask me a few strategies I use to keep myself calm?

Thanks,
Mrs. Malik
