Today we had an internal lockdown practice at 10:00 am. It took approximately 10-15 minutes.  During this time all external doors were locked and a sign was posted outside on the front doors indicating that we were practicing a lockdown.
Everyone needs to feel safe at school. All our students did an awesome job of listening and following instructions. They were well aware of its importance, as it is a safety procedure that we need to follow incase of an emergency.
A letter was sent home, Please also take the time at home to review with your child the importance of practicing lockdowns and fire drills, to put them on ease that the schools's proirity is always their saftey. Thanks!

We read the book

What is happening to the bean seed?
What does a bean seed need to grow?

We also started observing our own Lima beans. We will watch how they sprout and disect one to see what is inside......

We found a picture of what is inside. We are excited to see What's inside my bean? What does it look like?

Ask me how this bean is cut:  vertically or horizontally?

Ask me how the beans felt?

I felt the Lima beans, they were sm.....

Looking at our Lima beans, some of us observed how the colour of our skin isdifferent.
Ask me how I am unique?

What did they smell like?      Getting our beans ready to put them in a wet paper towel

Ask me about the shape of a Lima bean......

We measured one of our Lima beans to compare what happens to it when we give it water

Ask me the size of the bean?

Our predictions: "It will sprout." " It will sprout leaves."    "It smelt fresh, will open up."

"It will swell up."          " It will puff up and crack."        It will plump up."

" It will get bigger."          " The bean will change colour."    " The roots will grow out."

A seed needs _______, ______and ______ to grow.

Some of us were moving our beans around in the room as the sun moved....

One of us had an apple for snack and saved the seeds to share with her peers

                                                          Enjoy reading our writings!

At the end of the day, we checked our beans to observe any changes since morning.

"The beans have cracked."  " The beans are plump."
